Itinerary

Day 1: Mon: Visakhapatanam

Arrival at Visakhapatnam & transfer to a decent three hotel.

Excursion and visit to Simhachalam Temple, a great pilgrim site of 9th century Bishnu temple.

Its worth to take a leisurely walk in the early evening along the nice beach.

Back to hotel & overnight stay.

Day 2: Tue: Visakhapatanam - Araku – Desia

at 6.35 am to Bheja station through picturesque Arakku valley.

This spectacular train ride passes through various tunnels, mountains, beautiful valleys, waterfall, tribal hamlet.

Upon arrival at Bheja station, meet our Desia Crew who will help you to transfer to Desia camp (www.desiakoraput.com).

Upon arrival, warm welcome to Desia project by the host with ritual.

Post lunch walk to nearby harijan, paraja village and enjoy the sunset views at the gorgeous Duduma waterfall.

Day 3: Wed: Nandapur - Desia

After breakfast, short drive to Nandapur to visit the weekly market for gadaba, mali tribes.

Walk in and around the market and also to the villages. Enjoy the peaceful walk in the valley.

Drive back to Desia and overnight stay.

If desire buy the fruits and vegetables from the market and bring to Desia and learn preparation of local cuisine from the tribal cook.

Overnight stay at Desia.

Day 4: Thu: Desia & Bonda Market

Today you will meet one of the most interesting tribes Of India who is called Bonda or Remo. Especially Bonda ladies adorn with ornaments and jewellaries in the upper body and looks very colorful while walk down from hilly trails to this weekly market . The bonda tribes carry their home made alcohol to sale in this market. You have the great opportunity to meet and interact with this community and if desire share a drink with them.

Also meet another interesting indigenous gadaba tribe. After a memorable time in the market, walk in and around the market. Drive back to Desia and enroute enjoy the picnic lunch besides the scenic machakund waterfall. Afternoon walk along the riverside and Evening enjoy the Dhemsa dance among the tribal community. Overnight stay at Desia.

Day 5: Fri: Desia - Jagdalpur

Arrival at Visakhapatnam & transfer to a decent three hotel.

Excursion and visit to Simhachalam Temple, a great pilgrim site of 9th century Bishnu temple.

Its worth to take a leisurely walk in the early evening along the nice beach.

Back to hotel & overnight stay.

Day 6: Sat: Jagdalpur & Local S/S

Visit the weekly market of bison horn Muria tribes and their interesting villages.

Morning Visit the tribal museum which is a treasure of tribal antiquities.

Overnight stay in the same resort.

Day 7: Sun: Jagdalpur - Koraput Drop

Morning check out and proceed to Kotpad textile village which is famous for its natural dying.

Further proceed to Koraput to visit the hilltop Jagannath temple and drop at the railway station to board the train for Bhubneswar.

Day 8: Mon: Bhubaneswar

Morning arrival at Bhubaneswar and transfer to hotel.

After refreshment and breakfast start the day with Heritage walk in the Old temple town which will cover the impressive miniature temples, water tanks, small shrines, traditional bazaars.

Also experience the authentic Hindu worship inside the temple.

P.M – Enjoy the sunset visit to the ancient Caves at Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves.

Day 9: Tue: Bhubaneswar - Nuapatna- Joranda - Dhenkanal

A.M Visit the weavers village at Nuapatna to witness the live weaving done by the traditional weavers.

P.M – Visit the Dhokra metal worker village at Sadeibareni.

During sunsetting visit the great monastery at Joranda where the unique Mahima sadhus offer the holy prayer for the sake of universal peace and harmony.

Overnight stay at the Dhenkanal palace – A heritage property.

Day 10: Wed: Dhenkanal - Bhitarkanika Crocodile and Magroove National Park

Early departure for bhitarkanika national park, enjoy the boat ride into various water creeks amidst the mangrove forest to meet crocodile s in nature and also see various birds.

Enjoy the stay in an eco resort along the river side.

Day 11: Thu: Bhitarkanika - Konark

Morning explore the unspoilt rural villages.

Then drive to Konark , enroute visit the appliqué art village at Pipili.

Enjoy the stay in a resort at the beach at Konark.

Visit the world famous sun temple in the late afternoon.

Day 12: Fri: Konark - Raghurajpur - Puri

A.m – Visit the sun temple in the morning – a poem in the stone and world heritage site. Then visit the farmer village.

P.m- Enjoy the half of the day in around the artisan and painter village.

The highlights of this day will be traditional lunch, Gotipua dance, short walk and the ever smiling people.

Overnight in a decent hotel at Puri.

Day 13: Sat: Puri - Local Site Seeing

A.m- Green rider rickshaw ride in the traditional holy Puri covering old buildings, water tanks,craft centers,small shrines. Also enjoy the majestic views of the grand Jagannath temple from a library roof top . ( entry restricted to Non Hindus)

P.m – Visit various villages inside Puri like Kumbarpada- temple pottery village, Pathuria sahi- stone carver village , chitrakar sahi-painter village.

Enjoy the sunset walk along the beach market. Overnight stay in the same hotel.

Day 14: Sun: Puri - Bhubaneswar Airport Drop

After breakfast proceed to Bhubaneswar to board the flight for your onward journey.
